Well this season has been a mixed one for me, for one thing or another I missed the end , but I am pleased to inform everyone that I have not lost interest as has been rumoured, simply I have had one or two slight personal probs to deal with, and it has meant I could not be at the last few games, but I think the worst is behind me now and I am looking towards a bright new era.
Something that I am pleased to announce is that we finished in third place, in the CONSETT SUNDAY LEAGUE, I write that in capitols to mark my point, if it was a CONSETT SUNDAY LEAGUE we would have been CHAMPIONS, as the two above us come from Stanley.
Whats gone wrong with Consett and its Football teams, At one time The Town had a team running from every pub and club, now there are 5 (CONSETT:Station, AK, Blackhorse, Top Club, and The Steel Club) and evaloution has changed the commaradre, every Sunday was a ritual at one time, out for the Match at 9:30 back to the pub/club at 12:30, sell a few Dom cards , have a Quiz or somthing , the pub/club would be packed and the landlord/steward would put grub on, have a dozen pints then away home for a nap at 3:00 have a nap, then back out at 7:00 to enjoy play full banter with folk from other clubs who have done the same. How the games changed, its now To the Match for 10:30 if you feel you can get you arse out of bed, after match straight home or you will get grief from the other half, whats things coming to. BRING BACK commaradre its Fun really.
Something that has really stuck in my crop this year, are the ammount of clubs that have packed in during the season, Why sign for a club if you dont intend fulfilling the season, maybe its what I stated before, there are to many Hen Pecked Puffters in Football now,these clubs that pack in during the season should be hit in the pocket,we lost 9 points and 12 goals difference because clubs dropped out mid season, this on top of the waste of money used to get to two away games, and three strips that were dirtied ,clubs should be made to pay for these, and the cost to each club added to the fees already accrued.
had we kept the points we accrued from Blackhill Club and Stanley Shaftoes twice + the 12 goal we scored on the way, we would have been runners up to the MIGHTY fc,
I personally think the league should be reduced, instead of there being three leagues of 12, there should just be two leagues of 14, this would reduce the ammount of games played, also do away with two of the cups, and have play ofs for them at the end of the season, just like the Football League, well I have spoke enough, see you next season
